Spot On Lancashire

Spot On Lancashire is the county’s rural, library and touring service which presents live theatre, dance, music and family shows in the county’s smallest and most amazing places.

For nearly 30 years the small but dynamic team has supported an army of around 60 fabulous volunteers in village halls and libraries who love to offer their audiences welcoming, engaging and entertaining nights out that you might not expect to see in such small venues.

Twice a year, in Spring and Autumn events pop up in over 60 little spaces and community venues all over the countryside and, for one night only, turn each venue into a little theatre. The Spot On team supports those venues with marketing and assists the artists to make the night brilliant for you. It is exactly the same as seeing a professional children’s show, theatre production, or live music event in a city or town, except you are enjoying the show in a cosy, friendly hall, in often stunning locations, run by the wonderful volunteers who are passionate about what they do. With affordable car parking nearby, and nearly always the chance for a meal before, or a pint afterwards; which offers a great night out.

There are usually two seasons of shows catering for all tastes in the Spring and Autumn but occasionally you might discover Spot On Lancashire in summer in a park somewhere. If you visit the Spot On Lancashire website and connect with social media, you will discover exciting, extraordinary gigs for yourself, friends and families which will surprise and delight in the tiniest of places just off the smallest of roads.

The volunteer promoters are proud of their communities and can give you expert advice on what else to see or do nearby. They’ll know the best B&Bs and the beautiful walks and good cafes. So you can spend your day walking and exploring Lancashire, enjoy a pub meal and see some of the best small scale theatre and music touring the UK.  If you love a good book, many of the venues are in the county’s fabulous libraries. You can browse the shelves before a show!

If you care about the environment, you’ll be pleased to know Spot On Lancashire are very low impact and a tree is planted plant for every event held.

If you are a regular fan of Spot On events, bring a friend along and introduce them to one of the shows. If you’ve never been before- be brave! People attending shows on their own are made to feel very welcome. Some of the venues even include food in the ticket price, or encourage people to bring their own drinks.

All the events and venues are different so visit the website to find out more about a show nearby and more practical details, such as ticket prices, directions, public transport options, access and other facilities available. For a brochure through your door, just call or email, or you can easily subscribe to the e-bulletin via the Spot On Lancashire website.

You can also find Spot On Lancashire on facebook or connect through instagram.
